The 2008 Colorado Ballot

Amendment 75

Summary

This will level the playing field somewhat for the case where a very rich candidate enters a race. It increases the limits on fundraising if someone drops 1 million or more in their own race.

One interesting data point here, a few candidates have done this - and aside from Jared Polis, they've all lost. Money matters a lot, but it's not everything.

Vote YES! Vote Yes

I put this in the category of we have a really hosed up system for funding campaigns, and this makes it slightly less bad. But less bad is better.

Arguments Against

It's a small band-aid on a giant problem.

Arguments For

We have really tight fundraising restrictions here and this loosens it up a little when the opponent has a lot more money.
